Gleason will demonstrate advanced machines, tooling and global customer support services covering a wide array of processes for the complete production and inspection of all types of bevel and cylindrical gears.
Technologies exhibited at the show will include the following:
- The new Genesis 200GX threaded wheel grinding machine is designed for automotive gearbox parts and more.
"The two spindle concept combines maximum productivity with minimized idle and set-up times," said a company spokesperson. "Fast, easy software-guided set-up of the machine allows operators to set up the machine from one workpiece to another in just 20 minutes and using only one tool. 'First Part Cycle' - fully automatic workflow after set-up until grinding the first workpieces and the ability to interface with Gleason GMS machines via QR codes increase productivity. Easily accessible machine components make maintenance simple and efficient while standard dimension grinding wheels and dressing tools allow operators to use their existing tools. All of this in an energy efficient small footprint machine designed to meet the needs of customers in high-productivity, high-quality environments."
- The Gleason 300PS power skiving machine is designed to provide productivity and quality gains for cylindrical external and internal gears up to 300 mm in diameter.
"The new 300PS combines unique machine, cutting tool, workholding and power skiving process expertise to offer users significant performance improvements, particularly in operations where shaping, forming, pressing and broaching are typically used," said the spokesperson. "As compared to shaping, for example, the 300PS can deliver productivity rates as much as eight times higher. The modular tool-less workholding is designed for fast installation and changeover to handle high process forces with enhanced internal chip evacuation.
"Comprehensive Power Skiving Technology Software enables users to simulate the entire cutting process and plan the most effective process strategy. Users can analyze the influence of different cutting tool geometries and process parameters. The Technology Software allows users to decide if a given part can be safely and economically power skived or whether it would be better shaped, making power skiving as simple and familiar as shaping."
- The PHOENIX II 280G bevel gear grinding machine features a new design that is engineered to be simpler, more reliable and easier to operate and maintain for bevel gear grinding up to 280 mm in diameter. "The Phoenix 280G has no rails, wires or pipes in the work chamber to collect swarf, keeping the chamber clean for low preventive maintenance," said the spokesperson.
In addition, the machine offers rapid set-up and all major set-up items can be completed without tools (tool-less), including the grinding wheel, coolant header and workholding. The coolant header has small blocks that can be exchanged by hand, while the grinding wheel can be released hydraulically.
The 280G's automatic stock divider, mounted in close proximity to the work spindle, is designed to help ensure consistently high gear quality. The unit automatically determines the tooth slot position of the pre-finished gear to help provide accurate and reliable stock division while eliminating operator errors.
The Gleason 300GMS analytical gear inspection machine is designed to provide faster complete inspection of automotive transmission gears and other smaller gears, gear cutting tools and non-gear parts.
Gleason's latest addition to the GMS Series of inspection machines (with models available for gears up to 3,000 mm in diameter) was developed specifically to meet the needs of automotive transmission gear producers for a faster, more economical solution for complete gear and even non-gear parts inspection. According to the company, it is the first GMS to feature the new Windows 7-based Gleason GAMATM 3.0 applications software suite, which, like its GAMA 2.0 predecessor, offers users a highly intuitive user interface and simple input screens for programming of workpiece and cutting tool data.
The 300GMS is equipped with new ergonomically mounted operator workstations and a Gleason Diagnostic Module. Gleason Diagnostic Module tools include an environmental monitoring station to record temperature and humidity, and video telephony, note pad and voice mail messaging capability, enabling the user to capture video, describe a particular programming issue and transmit it over the Web to others in the customer's organization or to Gleason for support.
In addition, the 300GMS offers users the ability to meet a variety of inspection tasks beyond just gear geometry on a single platform, including surface finish and form measurement and even prismatic (CMM) measurement.
- Gleason offers a complete line of gear cutting tool products for the production of cylindrical and bevel gears of all types and sizes. For cylindrical gear production, visitors will find hobs, form relieved milling cutters, solid carbide hobs, shaper cutters, chamfering and deburring tools, shaving cutters, honing tools, coated diamond and CBN grinding wheels, diamond dressing wheels and diamond dressing rolls.
"Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about our recent advancements in gear hobbing technology, including G90, our tooling material designed to close the performance gap between HSS materials and tungsten carbide," said the spokesperson. "Visitors will also find an assortment of power skiving tools.
"Our bevel cutting tool display will feature advanced new bevel gear cutting tools for cutting and grinding straight, spiral and hypoid bevel gears. Of particular note is the Pentac Plus -RT, which can be built faster and more precisely than stick blade cutter systems of the past. With blade seating stiffness equal to the high stiffness of Pentac Plus, this new system offers enhanced surface finish, tool life and cycle time."
- Gleason designs and produces a complete series of quick-change, tool-less workholding equipment for bevel gear, cylindrical gear and non-Gleason production machines. These systems are designed to reduce set-up and changeover times for gearing applications up to 300 mm in diameter. Also featured in the workholding display, as well as on Gleason's new Genesis 200GX threaded wheel grinder, is Gleason's next generation of tool-less quick-change fixturing called Quik-Flex Plus. The cam activated internal lugs in this system are designed to provide enhanced pull down and centering force.
"New to Gleason is a line of hydraulic workholding," said the spokesperson. "The holding force, enhanced accuracy and contamination-free design are well suited for dry gear processing applications. Also available is Gleason's new stir-able modular workholding. This design allows off spindle assembly and truing to reduce changeover time as well as the amount of total runout in the fixture."
- Gleason K2 Plastics provides plastic gear design and injection molded plastic gears, including helical gears, spur gears, planetary gears and internal gears.
"Gleason-K2 Plastics provide plastic gears with no weldline for a stronger, more accurate drive train, eliminating the additional expense of secondary machining," said the spokesperson.
