Selection Guides for ICARUS Mist Collectors

LOSMA has created three LOSMA Selection Guides for the ICARUS - a series of plug and play mist collectors - for Doosan, Okuma and Mori Seiki machines. The guide aids users in selecting the correct mist collector to fit their application needs.

"The ICARUS is a low energy, static or electrostatic mist collector that removes oil mist, vapor and smoke from machine tools," said a company spokesperson. "All LOSMA mist collectors exceed government requirements for workplace health and safety as established by NIOSH and in OSHA standard 1910.1000 Table Z-1. Advantages of mist collection include:

  • Health - Removing micro particles of mist from oil and water-soluble coolants in the workplace prevents dermatological, respiratory diseases and allergies that are dangerous to workers
  • Safety - Filtering air prevents accidents at work caused by slippery surfaces, eliminates the risk of fire-triggered coolants and preserves the working operation of electronic devices
  • Savings - LOSMA mist collectors produce savings on coolants used in machining due to the reclaiming of coolant, and saves on cleaning costs due to the absence of oil deposits
  • Greater efficiency - Clean air in the plant also means greater working efficiency and a better company image."

ICARUS is available in three sizes ranging from 395 - 1,115 CFM, with two standard configurations each (filtration efficiencies from 95% to 99.5%) supplied with washable deflector and metallic pre-filter, the new Ecofilter GREEN, a customized final filtration level of F9 or H13 or with electrostatic cells - Norms CEN 179/1822. The GREEN Ecofilter is a patented filter that is 100% natural, eco-compatible with high efficiencies for a longer life of the after-filters, according to the company.
