Hurco has introduced AdaptiPath, a conversational feature for 3-axis milling designed to increase metal removal rates, support rest machining and extend tool life due to controlled engagement cutting.
"The technology creates a smooth tool path motion, controls chip load and provides constant tool engagement," said a company spokesperson. "AdaptiPath gives conversational users the ability to use rest machining, a strategy found in many CAD/CAM packages, which is especially useful for pocketing. The machinist can use a larger diameter tool to efficiently remove material, followed by a rest machining pass that uses a smaller cutter to access the areas of the feature that the larger tool could not access. The faster material removal significantly reduces cycle time for pocketing applications. In a test cut by Hurco, cutting the pocketing features with AdaptiPath was 60% faster (2 minutes, 21 seconds with AdaptiPath and 6 minutes, 9 seconds without)."
The integrated Hurco control powered by WinMax software supports both ISO/EIA NC and conversational programming. It has a 2 GHz Dual Core Intel Processor, a 64 GB solid state storage drive, 2 GB RAM and 2,277 bps processing power.
