Live Demonstration Cell Features Robotic Technology
December 1, 2013
On October 2, 2013, at an Oktoberfest-themed open house hosted by Absolute Machine Tools Inc. at its Technical Center in Mason, OH, the company marked its 2013 naming as an authorized integrator for Fanuc America with a live demonstration featuring Fanuc automation technology.
In the demonstration, a Fanuc LR Mate 200iD robot tended a manufacturing cell consisting of a Tongtai TMV-510G machining center and an AccuteX DS-550CM die sinker EDM. The machining center cut graphite blanks that the robot moved to the EDM for use in a deep-rib burning operation. The graphite electrodes being tended were 0.030" diameter at the tip, 1.75" long and burned to a depth of 1.25".
"The LR Mate 200iD human-arm-sized mini robot is typical of Fanuc's offering of specialized but operationally flexible robots," said a company spokesperson. "The slim arm minimizes interference with peripheral devices and equipment, with standard reach (717 mm) and short reach (550 mm) arms available. As the lightest unit in its class, the robot adapts easily to in-machine integration as well as wall or inverted mounting. Cabling, air tubes and valves are enclosed in the dustproof and waterproof robot arm, and vision and force sensors are available to tailor the robot to specific applications."
Steve Ortner, President and Owner of Absolute Machine Tools said, "For many customers of Absolute Machine Tools, automation can be key tool for productivity and success. The wide range of robots from Fanuc America can help those customers maximize their results."
