"Present day machine tools have to comply with safety category Performance Level D (EN/ISO 13849-1)," said a FANUC spokeseprson. "With FANUC's Dual Check Safety, the Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL B CNC supports an integrated safety function that complies with European safety standards over a single cable."
Using built-in redundancy, a processor for monitoring safety-related parameters, guarantees the safety of the system by following the actual position and speed of the servomotors, spindle motors and the I/O interfaces, according to the company. FANUC reported that an advantage of this software is that less space is required in the electrical cabinet, as the mechanical components required by traditional solutions are no longer needed.
Basic function of the Dual Check Safety include:
- Safety brake monitoring
- Safe spindle speed (four ranges)
- Safe servo axis speed (four ranges, velocity and positioning)
- Safe machine axis position (four ranges)
- Safe stop
- Safe I/Os.
