Training Videos Boost Information Retention
August 1, 2025

Stills from training videos, created by Kelly Griffin Creative Production, showing step-by-step instructions.
Training videos can serve as hands-on demonstrations that can replace or supplement written manuals, with the added benefit of addressing matters that are unique to specific facilities or circumstances. In a world where there is a lot of information for people to absorb, digest and retain, there is undeniable value in an actual live recorded "show-and-tell" style of training.
Industry compliance can also be a huge issue for construction and manufacturing decision makers. NFPA 70B, as one example, is the standard for electrical equipment maintenance, and outlines mandatory requirements for maintaining electrical, electronic and communication systems and equipment. Noncompliance can cause OSHA citations and increased insurance rates. For manufacturers, training videos can be especially effective when user safety training is integrated with the how-to, procedural content.
Kelly Griffin is a video producer who has been creating new owner training videos in Oregon and Washington since 2019.
"New owner training videos are becoming very popular, and have been a required deliverable by new building owners from their various contractors and equipment vendors," said Griffin. "In the YouTube age, conveying information through actual showing and telling has become much more desirable and effective as a training method than relying on written manuals and procedural checklists."
Griffin's clients have included a variety of companies, including industrial electrical contractors, commercial builders and manufacturers.
