Vertical Precision Milling Machine Designed for Large Parts

The Nidec Machine Tool MVR-Ex series of vertical precision milling machines are designed for machining large parts. The double column design features a large bed of 59.1" to 137.8" width and length with T slots in the lateral direction is from 118.1" to 236.2". Options for larger tables are available. Several models are available.

The machine is designed with an internal spindle cooling system and thermally stabilized columns. MP scale feedback is provided on the X, Y, Z and W axes. Repeatability is ±0.0025 mm/1,000 mm (±0.0001 in/39.4 in).

The structural components are designed with improved rigidity including the saddle and crossrail. All main components are constructed of cast iron with excellent dampering capability. 3D FEM analysis was utilized to obtain optimum rib arrangements. The RAM is constructed of high tensile strength FCD600.

The maximum spindle speed is 8,000 RPM with power cutting during low spindle speeds. An optional 12,000 RPM spindle is available for high-speed machining and aluminum finishing.

The rapid traverse in the Z axis is 394-591 IPM, W axis is 118-197 IPM, and X and Y axes provide 1,181 IPM rapid traverse. The Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) produces a 23-sec. chip-to-chip time and 5-sec. tool-to-tool time. Various machining heads are available including right angle head, extension head, universal head, slant head, small right angle head, high speed extension head, high speed universal head and 2 NC axis head.

The control features a 15" touchscreen, a full keyboard and hard switches.
