CARR Machine and Tool Expands Elk Grove Village Operations

CARR Machine & Tool has expanded its Elk Grove Village operations. CARR Machine & Tool is a CNC machine shop that specializes in close-tolerance, multi-axis machining for high-tech industries.

CARR moved .3 miles from its previous location to a 15,000 sq. ft. industrial-modern, high-tech facility on Bonnie Lane where the company intends to grow by adding robotic, inspection and machine technologies. Elk Grove Village is ranked as the largest industrial park in the country, and the location allows easy access to O'Hare International Airport.

Jim Carr, President and CEO of CARR Machine & Tool, is a believer in advancing the manufacturing industry. Carr's father, Richard, began the precision machine shop in 1972. Initially, CARR served as a manufacturer for commercial printing press parts. In 2004, the company moved into its second generation when Jim took full ownership and the title of President, and pivoted its focus to emerging industries.

Since taking over, Carr has matured the company into a high-tech CNC shop. The company upgraded its ERP, adopted Gino Wickman's "TRACTION" methodology, obtained AS9100D accreditation and refocused its interests in the aerospace, space and exploration, semiconductor, medical and Department of Defense industries.

"We support clients like Virgin Galactic, Tesla and Boom Supersonic and serve as their first-class aerospace machine shop," Carr said.

"It is important to me to hear from everyone in my company," added Carr. "Everyone has an opinion, and the more diverse voices we hear, the better the value to our company. A dynamic culture attracts and retains talent, clients and like-minded people."

In 2014 Carr joined forces with a longtime supplier and peer, Jason Zenger, to equip, inspire and entertain manufacturing leaders via their now top rated MakingChips podcast. To learn more, go to www.makingchips.com.
