Machine tool distributor, Southern States Machinery (SSM), had 250 attendees at its second annual open house in Mooresville, NC, in May. This year the machine tool technology expo Steel Tech was held over three days with over 30 machines operating and under power from 25 industry leaders. Attendees had the chance to see numerous technologies in one location from Arku, Big Steel Rack, CP&D, Flex Machine Tools, Geka, HE&M Saw, Hornet, Kinetic, Midwest Automation, Miller Electric, OMAX, Pat Mooney Saws, Prodevco, TigerStop, Trumpf, Universal Robot, Virtek, Wila and more. Factory-certified experts were on hand to answer direct questions about applying manufacturing solutions, big and small, to existing production processes.
In addition to direct access to the latest industry technology, Steel Tech featured 15 complimentary educational seminars on the latest trends in the world of manufacturing to help those in attendance stay informed and stay competitive. Topics ranged from collaborative robots, and robotic welding, to fiber laser, machining and employee performance.
"Our industry is constantly evolving and it is important to adapt to stay competitive," stated Vice President Bill Plourd. "There is a lot of research that goes into automation or investing in equipment that will change a current operation and we want to help people have access to the educational component of the process. We are focused on making a difference for manufacturers and providing a space for that to happen."
