Auto-Adaptive Electric Drilling Unit
April 1, 2017
Fives offers its auto-adaptive eADU electric drilling unit designed for reduced cycle time on all types of applications. The unit is engineered for optimized and auto-adaptive cutting conditions for any material during multi-material stack drilling.
The multiple electrical motors, the integrated electronic board and the multiplicity of its functionalities make the eADU an intelligent drilling solution with variation of speed and feed, lubrication control, automatic fast spindle return upon tool exit, CC clamping force control, torque measurement control and counters.
Tool lifetime is increased due to a stable and controlled spindle rotation speed. The tool lifetime can be monitored with the torque measurement system. Machine ergonomics, weight (2.5 to 4 kg) and noise (<70dB) have been optimized to offer an increased ease/comfort of use; just like the compact power supply unit (230 x 150 x 85 mm) positioned on the floor. Energy consumption has been reduced.
Machine traceability is accomplished through the development of a data collection program including cutting conditions, date/time, number of holes and error messages.
The modular concept enables simple interchangeability of equipment, motors/drilling heads for the entire range of eADU (electric and pneumatic).
It is designed with a reduced amount of spare parts and storage costs due to a common list of spares for the entire range of eADU.
