Absolute Machine Tools will demonstrate several machine tools at PMTS 2017 in booths 655 and 725. Brands and models will include two Nexturn Swiss-type lathes, an AccuteX wire EDM, two Tongtai lathes and two LICO screw machines.
Of special interest in booth 655 will be the Nexturn SA-20B Swiss lathe shown with a Tracer 20 mm bar feeder. This model is a new 20 mm machine that is available with or without a rotary synchronous guide bushing. It features up to 7 total axes and up to 22 total tools with the B-axis, including several live tools. Machining capacity is 20 mm on the main spindle, 20 mm on the sub-spindle and 210 mm (8") maximum turning length in one chucking (60 mm or 2.36" without guide bushing).
In PMTS booth 725, Absolute Machine Tools will demonstrate two LICO screw machines. One of the machines will represent LICO's LNTS line of multi-slide screw machines. The model at the show will have a 42 mm spindle with four cross slides and an eight-position backworking electric turret, and can overlap up to five tools at one time. This screw machine is ruggedly built and capable of form tool use with each slide having a full 2-axis servo-controlled travel. For medium to complex parts, it can match the speed of cam-driven machines and offer other benefits as well. A turret-mounted pickoff spindle is standard and the base machine model comes equipped with a gang platform supporting three backworking tools. Each main turret position accepts VDI-30 live tooling with four live toolholders. Bar diameter capacity for this model is 51 mm with a maximum turning length of 130 mm. This machine comes standard with a Mitsubishi M830 CNC control. All LNTS models can be equipped with an optional Y-axis gang tooled cross slide for both static and live tools.
The other LICO in the booth will be an LNDD series machine. "The LNDD is an 11-axis turn/mill center that can often produce parts faster than a twin-turret, twin-spindle CNC lathe," said a company spokesperson. The LNDD series machine employs independent 2-axis cross slides that can overlap each other and the turret. The turret works on either the main or the counter spindle, and can perform on-center work on both spindles simultaneously. Employing a highly engineered frame and slides, the LNDD dampens vibration and reduces the variables that can arise in size and finish from such vibration. The result is a more stable process at fast cycle times.
"We are excited to be launching this line officially at PMTS," said Steve Ortner, President of Absolute Machine Tools. "LICO offers a well-designed and constructed line of screw machines and we are pleased to be selling and supporting LICO now in North America."
Absolute Machine Tools recently acquired Advanced Machinery Solutions, becoming the exclusive importer/distributor of original equipment manufacturer LICO Machinery Company (Taichung, Taiwan).
