When demands are high and part quality must maintain consistency, performance gains are no longer driven solely by engineering-they are shaped by real-world demands and capabilities of one's technology.
FANUC's ROBOCUT-CiC Series Wire EDM machines offer reliability and repeatability, and with recent product updates, FANUC has taken innovation one step further by incorporating customer-driven operating enhancements designed to improve precision, efficiency, and cost control.
Recently introduced advanced stepped-cutting technology, significant wire consumption savings, integrated automation reliability, and the debut of EASYDRESS software by GTR, GmbH, at IMTS 2026, FANUC continues to deliver solutions aligned directly with customer needs.
At the heart of the ROBOCUT-CiC Series is a foundation of rigidity, thermal stability, and FANUC's advanced CNC control driving advanced NANO-technology servo motors. This combination is designed to deliver ultra-precise motion control, enabling smoother interpolation, finer cutting paths, and exceptional positioning accuracy. These ingredients ensure consistent precision across the classes of ROBOCUT machines platforms-from the compact C400iC to the large-capacity C800iC 20" model. Now, manufacturers can scale applications without sacrificing performance or quality.
Stepped-cutting technology reflects direct user feedback for faster cycle times. By optimizing cutting parameters throughout each phase of machining, the system reduces required passes while maintaining improved surface finishes and dimensional accuracy, including straightness. The results are higher throughput and improved productivity in demanding environments.
Moving to financial-saving features, the new Simple Adjust wire speed feature allows operators to precisely match wire speed to material and geometry. More significantly, it delivers up to 50% wire savings with no loss of accuracy, surface finish, or cycle time. By maintaining identical machining performance while reducing consumable use, manufacturers gain a powerful advantage in controlling operating costs, particularly in high-volume production. This breakthrough ensures that efficiency gains do not come at the expense of quality or productivity-a critical advantage for today's manufacturers.
FANUC's AWF/AWR Automatic Wire Feed and Repair system further enhances unattended machining. Designed for maximum uptime, the system can rethread directly in the kerf at angles of up to 5°. Intelligent hole location search capabilities and skip functions for missing start holes ensure the machine can automatically locate valid threading points or bypass unavailable ones. The result is uninterrupted machining, reduced operator intervention, and greater confidence in lights-out operation.
Supporting these machine-level advancements is FANUC's free ROBOCUT LINK-i web-based monitoring software, bringing powerful visibility to the entire operation. LINK-i provides real-time and historical insights into operating efficiencies, tracked cutting strategies, and machine or department-level performance. Users can monitor utilization, analyze process trends, and review maintenance status from virtually anywhere. This level of connectivity enables better decision-making, improved process consistency, and proactive maintenance planning. All key factors in optimizing productivity across the shop floor.
Ease of use remains central to the ROBOCUT-CiC platform. An intuitive interface and streamlined set-up processes make advanced features accessible, easing technology selection and training requirements while maximizing the ROBOCUTs output.
Expanding beyond EDM, FANUC introduces EASYDRESS software by GTR, GmbH, debuting at IMTS 2026. Designed for PCD and CBN wheel shaping and dressing, EASYDRESS simplifies complex processes with a user-friendly graphical interface. Operators can quickly create or modify wheel profiles, improving set-up time, consistency, and overall grinding performance.
