Mitutoyo Expands in Florida with New Lakeland Metrology Service Center

Mitutoyo America Corporation has expanded its presence in the Southeast with the opening of a new 11,200-sq.-ft. Lakeland Metrology Service Center, located at 3150 County Line Road in Lakeland, FL. Positioned between Tampa and Orlando, the facility is designed to support one of the fastest-growing manufacturing corridors in the region.

The new center reflects the continued investment by Mitutoyo in bringing precision measurement expertise closer to manufacturers. As industries across Florida continue to grow, particularly in aerospace, defense, medical manufacturing, and advanced machining, the demand for reliable metrology services and training has increased. The Lakeland facility aims to meet that demand by providing local access to advanced technologies, technical expertise, and accredited services.

Mitutoyo marked the recent opening with a two-day grand opening event in May. The celebration began with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by invited local leaders, industry partners, and members of the press. The second day opened to the broader metrology community, welcoming engineers, quality teams, manufacturers, educational institutions, and decision-makers for a full day of engagement and learning.

Attendees of the open house experienced a mix of education, hands-on experience, and networking. Guided facility tours and live demonstrations showcased advanced measurement technologies in action, while technical seminars will address real-world challenges such as surface finish evaluation, measurement accuracy, and digital data collection with real-time statistical process control.

The event also featured an interactive "Passport to Precision" program, encouraging visitors to explore six demonstration stations throughout the facility.

Beyond the event, the Lakeland Metrology Service Center is built to serve as a long-term resource for manufacturers across the region. The facility includes a modern technology center for product demonstrations, a large-volume inspection laboratory, and an education center focused on workforce development.

Manufacturers have access to a range of services, including contract inspection and part programming, metrology training, accredited calibration services, and maintenance and repair. As part of Mitutoyo America and its network of Metrology Service Centers, the Lakeland facility will soon be offering measurement services under its expanded ISO/IEC 17025 scope of accreditation.
