WIDIA Expands Top Cut 4 with Indexable Drilling Grade

WIDIA has launched the WM35PH coated grade V36 and V38 insert geometries for the Top Cut 4 indexable drilling platform.

"Engineered with Hi-PIMS coating technology, the WM35PH grade offers a smooth coating surface with optimum layer adhesion that prevents the coating from flaking and edge build-up while ensuring high process reliability in demanding applications across several industries," said a company spokesperson.

"With WM35PH, you are not just getting high productivity; you are getting the cutting-edge strength and wear resistance needed for machining several materials," said Scott Etling, Vice President of Global Product Management. "The grade provides everything a customer needs to tackle their machine shop needs."

Both specialized grades are designed to extend tool life and promote high process reliability in stainless steels and high-temperature alloys. The V36 peripheral flat geometry provides stability and versatility for general-purpose machining, while the V38 central geometry offers long-chipping materials.

"With these new updates, the Top Cut 4 platform now gives machine shops a durable, repeatable solution for drilling up to 5xD across industries, including general engineering, automotive, oil and gas, aerospace, and energy," said the spokesperson.
