The Muratec MT series high precision turning centers offering multiple configurations to meet and exceed production requirements.
The MT's multitasking capabilities, featuring two or three turrets, all equipped with Y-axis, enable the machining of complex parts and expedite the processing of simple parts. This configuration facilitates simultaneous machining of two features on the same spindle using opposing turrets.
Muratec's MT100 and MT200 machines are designed for multitasking operations for complex and simple part machining. All are equipped with live tooling, twin opposing spindles and up to three Y-axis turrets.
The machines offer a high-speed 3-axis gantry for efficiently loading and unloading nonbar-fed jobs. The MT series is suited for producing diverse parts across different manufacturing sectors requiring complex geometries.
Muratec developed the MT series to facilitate comprehensive machining processes cost-effectively, addressing the growing need to enhance shop floor production efficiency amid skilled labor shortages and the escalating floor space costs per square foot.
"The MT100 and MT200 achieve greater precision on complex parts through their built-in 'true' Y-axis and live tools standard on each turret," said a company spokesperson. "The turrets can concurrently operate on the same part, enabling pinch turning and pinch milling and ultimately reducing cycle time."
Adding a third turret to the MT machines increases flexibility and minimizes set-up time between jobs by retaining redundant tooling in the turret. The third turret accommodates special holders for challenging angles, combo drill/tap holders, speeder heads, etc., with each turret having 15 stations. In addition, the MT200 features a 12-station 1/2 index lower turret, offering wider spacing for improved clearance for long boring bars and drills.
At the same time, their design, featuring twin opposing spindles for multitasking, provides increased throughput and greater process quality.
Opting for the Muratec gantry loader releases the machine's full potential, transforming it into a versatile "job shop in a box." This adaptable set-up accommodates either bar feeder (up to 3.14") or gantry-loaded parts (up to 6" x 6") on the same day, handling forgings, castings and slugged material.
"The gantry's features, such as a retractable work separator and individual shutter doors, enable loading and unloading while one spindle remains operational, distinguishing it from competitors that typically pause operations during this process," said the spokesperson.
Muratec's MT series prioritizes workability and maintainability through strategic design choices. The eco-friendly precision grease cartridge reduces oil waste and keeps the lube where it belongs. Muratec uses high-standard components, including FANUC drives and motors, NSK Bearings, NSK Roller Guides and Parker Hannifin Fittings. Each machine's maintenance points are visible and easily accessed, reducing downtime.
The MT provides versatile load and unload options. Standardly equipped with a part unloading robot, the machine gently places completed parts on the standard outfeed conveyor. An upgraded option, the Intelligent Unloader, efficiently handles unloading finished parts and bar remnants from either spindle. The Muratec Gantry unloads from either side and can deliver parts to various stations, including an outfeed conveyor, wash station, post-process gauge, marking station or any subsequent step in the manufacturing process.
Additionally, the manual Tool Setter application in the MT100 and MT200 models streamlines tool changeovers, reducing time. Manually installed and compatible with left and right spindles, the Tool Setter efficiently checks tool gauge lengths for upper and lower turrets, providing a user-friendly solution contributing to increased productivity.
Muratec's MT series optimizes machine tool technology by seamlessly integrating turning and milling operations into a singular platform. This series provides increased flexibility for diverse part production, offering various processes, tooling options and automation accessories.
