OMIC Announces R&D Additive Innovation Center
May 1, 2023
OMIC R&D recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Additive Innovation Center located at 33701 Charles T. Parker Way, Scappoose, OR.
Hosted by Oregon Tech, the state's polytechnic university, the new 30,000-sq.-ft. center is the second building on the OMIC R&D Scappoose campus and will include a large manufacturing floor, ample office space with adjoining classrooms, partner collaboration space and contain more than $7 million in cutting-edge metals additive technology.
The Additive Innovation Center is unique because it will use all seven metals additive (3D printing) manufacturing technologies. The industrial scale 3D printers will allow OMIC R&D to assist the region's small- and medium-sized manufacturers to transition to the additive manufacturing (AM) technology best suited for their needs, enabling a strong domestic supply chain and economic resiliency.
"This center will put Oregon at the forefront in 3D metals manufacturing applied research. The cost reductions, environmental benefits and design and manufacturing flexibility of metals printing provide a significant benefit to the companies willing to harness its potential," said Craig Campbell, Executive Director, OMIC R&D.
The project was funded by the State of Oregon.
