Dallas Industries Delivers Feed Line to ITW Drawform

Dallas Industries, a manufacturer of coil handling, press feeding equipment and controls for the stamping industry, has announced that ITW Drawform, Zeeland, MI, has taken delivery of a new Dallas Industries conventional feed line. ITW Drawform is a contract manufacturer of deep drawn metal stampings.

The conventional feed line is for lighter gauge material. It handles coil width to 30" wide and is rated for handling coil weights up to 20,000 lbs.

The line features a coil reel with load car that includes a coil restrictor (hold down) and automated coil guide rolls that automatically center the coil on the reel. The reel has a dual brake system, including an Eaton AirFlex brake, that is designed for use with thin, sensitive materials. The brake is controlled via an automatically adjusting proportional valve that adjusts brake pressure based on coil OD. The line also includes a DPS-2.25-7-30 powered straightener with nonmarking provisions for soft and/or cosmetic material and a DRFP-330 servo roll feed mounted on an adjustable height cabinet.

The line is fitted with Dallas' SyncLoop technology, wherein the slack loop depths are monitored and payout speeds adjusted based on the line speed average (from the feeder). The feed also has triple-roll (per side) hand-crank adjusted edge guides with self-centering and independent adjustments for squaring soft and light gauge maerials.

The line is built on an Allen-Bradley, Ethernet-based control architecture and feature ProfileSelect, a feed control system that is exclusively available through Dallas Industries. It uses a cam-motion (sinusoidal) profile. This smooth profile results in a feed motion that utilizes 100% of the press feed window, reducing stress on the material and the feed's mechanical components.
