Innovative Solutions for Future-Proof Manufacturing

DMG MORI USA presented innovations and holistic technology solutions for the future of manufacturing at its recent Chicago Technology Days.

At its recent Chicago Technology Days in Hoffman Estates, IL, DMG MORI presented a variety of solutions for automation, digitization and advanced technology integration. The 21,000 sq. ft. showroom featured 23 machines and hosted over 1,350 visitors from more than 730 companies.

Several machines on display were automated with innovative workpiece or pallet handling as well as collaborative robots (cobots). In addition to the Rotary Pallet System, DMG MORI showcased the premiere of the MATRIS Light automation solution on the universal lathe NLX 2500/700. With the MATRIS Light cobot, DMG MORI offers a flexible automation solution for efficient variable-mix and variable-volume production. It is designed for quick deployment when needed and equally quick removal when not in use.

The event also featured the U.S. premiere of the NTX 500 with the integrated In Machine Traveling Robot (IMTR). The NTX 500 is the most compact model in the NTX series and built for productive 6-sided complete machining of complex workpieces, making it particularly suited for the medical industry.

Another innovation on display was a noncontact laser scanner from NIKON. The on-machine measuring system automatically enables the measurement of workpieces in machine tools due to advanced sensing technology. The integration of DMG MORI's sensing technology and NIKON's measurement technology enable high-speed and high-accuracy measurement.

The integration of technologies and processes was a focal point at the event. This included complete machining on 5-axis machining centers as well as turn and mill machines, mill-turn machining centers and additive manufacturing technologies. Integration solutions for gear milling and grinding were featured that used intelligent digitization tools to minimize process complexity. The workshop-oriented operator supported TULIP and the customer portal my DMG MORI completed the lineup.

DMG MORI Qualified Partners were on hand to provide customers with solutions for machines, automation, digitized processes, equipment, training and financing.
