6-Axis Universal Machining Center

The SORALUCE TA-D 25 a 6-axis universal machining center is available with a 49" x 49" full contouring integrated B-axis rotary table, allowing for a maximum part swing of 82" with maximum load capacity of 17,600 lbs.

The SORALUCE TA-D 25 is part of Soraluce's Compact Product Line of bed type universal machining centers and offers 98" in the X-axis travel, 47" in the Y-axis and 59" in the Z-axis.

The TA-D 25's table allows for high-precision 4-axes simultaneous and continuous machining with continuous positioning of 0.001º and rotational accuracy of ± 2.5". Additional flexibility is provided with an optional universal stepless head offering indexing increments of 0.001º in the vertical and diagonal joints, permitting 4+2 axis machining.

The ISO 50 BIG Plus spindle is capable of speeds up to 6,000 RPM. It is driven by a 40 HP direct drive spindle motor with built-in cooling system offering 457 ft-lbs. (S1-100%).

Alternatively, the TA-D 25 can be equipped with vertical high-speed heads, vertical high-speed continuous positioning heads (torque motor, C-axis), allowing 5-axes continuous machining, or universal automatic indexing head with electrospindle attachment, permitting 4+2 axes continuous machining. The latter is a flexible solution suited for machining molds, since it allows high roughing capacity and fine finishing on 4+2 axes (not continuous). The head can position the joints when the additional electro-spindle is spotted.

The TA-D 25 features the Accura Heads technology by SORALUCE. Soraluce Accura Heads makes it possible to compensate the head articulation positioning deviation for one particular position of the head. It allows compensation of the head's kinematic values in specific angular head positions. Accura heads are engineered to provide maximum accuracy as the measurement cycle is carried out just before the milling operation.

The TA-D 25 is equipped with Soraluce's exclusive DAS system, a smart system that monitors the machining process and, in the event that chatter arises, selects the best technological alternative to eliminate vibrations. Equipped with a user interface that makes it possible to control the evolution of the process, DAS incorporates different strategies for eliminating chatter, such as the built-in actuators located in the ram, the spindle speed turning-by automatically selecting the optimum speed-and the continuous harmonic oscillation in the spindle speed.

"The DAS system provides optimal stock removal capabilities, achieving an increase in productivity of up to 300%," said a company spokesperson. "DAS also improves the quality of the surface finish of machined surfaces, extends tool life and reduces wear on internal machine components."

The work area of the machine is completely enclosed, and includes roof guarding that integrates two front sliding doors and one at the back on the left, facilitating access to the work area from the front and rear for set-up and measuring operations. The CNC control, a HEIDENHAIN ITNC 530 HSCI, is incorporated into a hanging button pad arm that can be positioned to work from either the front or rear of the machine, as per customer preference, thus providing suitable control over the entire operation.

A Sorlauce TA-D 25 demo machine was recently installed and is now under power at a USA based tech center for live cutting demonstration. To learn more or schedule a private demonstration, contact Doug Schulte, Business Development Manager, Select Machining Technologies.
