Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has announced several manufacturing operation investments and expansions in the state.
Rose Holm
Danish company Rose Holm, a manufacturer of threaded bolts for the food and beverage, wind power and heat exchange industries in Northern Europe, will invest $1.35 million to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Henrico County. The new operation will give the company close proximity to a major customer and further its wind energy efforts. Virginia successfully competed with Indiana for the project, which will create 10 new jobs.
"Virginia is all in for clean energy, and we welcome Rose Holm's decision to locate its first U.S. operation in our Commonwealth," said Gov. Northam. "Our Clean Energy Virginia initiative is driving new investment and new jobs in renewable energy, and now it is bringing a new manufacturing facility to Henrico County. We look forward to a strong partnership with Rose Holm as we work to make Virginia a hub for the East Coast offshore wind supply chain and service industries."
Plasser American
Plasser American Corporation, a manufacturer of railway construction and maintenance equipment, will invest $52.6 million to expand in the city of Chesapeake. The company will add a 45,000 sq. ft., three-story office building and a new 82,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility to increase production capacity. The investment plan also involves the renovation of existing infrastructure and the addition of manufacturing equipment, including an updated industrial paint booth. Plasser American will create 98 new jobs and acquire three adjoining properties to accommodate the expansion.

"Companies like Plasser with deep ties in our Commonwealth understand the competitive advantages of the region's infrastructure, access to The Port of Virginia and world-class workforce. Growing Virginia's substantial manufacturing industry is key to rebuilding from this public health crisis, and we thank Plasser American for playing an important role in our ongoing recovery efforts."

Hitachi ABB Power Grids
Hitachi ABB Power Grids, a provider of power and energy technologies, will invest $6.2 million to upgrade equipment and increase manufacturing capacity at its Bland County operation. The facility is the largest private-sector employer in the county and the leading producer of dry-type transformers in North America. The Bland County operation successfully competed with other power grid manufacturing facilities across the United States for this project, which will create 40 new jobs.

Northam. "The company's decision to invest in its Bland County facility is a testament to the region's accessibility, integrated transportation network and skilled manufacturing workforce. We thank Hitachi ABB for its commitment to sustainable energy and for helping advance our Clean Energy Virginia initiative in rural parts of the Commonwealth."
In operation since 1972, Hitachi ABB Power Grids' Bland facility is responsible for the design and manufacture of medium voltage dry-type power transformers used to adjust and stabilize the voltage of electricity flowing between the electric grid and businesses, homes and factories. The company employs more than 800 workers throughout Virginia, with approximately 332 at its Bland County facility.
