Viv Helwig, President, and John Pulliam, Chief Operating Officer, discuss a new equipment addition.

For the second year in a row, Vested Metals International, a specialty metals raw material distribution and metallurgical consulting company based in St. Augustine, FL, has been named one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in America. The company recently expanded its specialty stainless steel bar offerings and added titanium plate to its portfolio as well as machinery, such as a waterjet machine and fully-automated production saw, to its recently expanded facility.

"Going into our fourth quarter of business, we are honored to receive national recognition for the services we provide to the medical, aerospace, defense and industrial markets," said President and founder Viv Helwig. "We have also been fortunate enough to be recognized regionally as the 58th fastest growing business in Florida, which is a true testament to our team's dedication."

The company also was recently named #6 on Jacksonville Business Journal's 2020 "Fast 50" and a finalist in GrowFL's "Florida Companies to Watch." Helwig, a Jamaican native who grew up in Palm Bay and graduated from Flagler College, has also been recognized as the Minority-Owned Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for the Northern region of Florida.

"Through Viv's entrepreneurial vision and steadfast leadership, Vested Metals has continued to demonstrate sustainable growth year after year, and has quickly established itself as a quintessential fabric of our local economy and an inspiration to other businesses," said Joy Andrews, St. Johns County, Florida Deputy County Administrator. "We are proud that St. Johns County is home to Vested Metals."

Established in 2014, Vested Metals International procures hard-to-find metals like titanium, cobalt alloys, copper, brass and bronze used to manufacture everything from the fan blades of Rolls-Royce airplane engines to implant prosthesis used in spinal fusion surgery. The company currently has 13 employees.

"I am incredibly proud of our team and cannot wait to see what 2021 brings," said Helwig. "We are steadily creating jobs at a time when they are needed most."
