A Job Shop in a Box
January 1, 2019
"As one of the most efficient turning centers in Murata Machinery's MT Series product line, the MT100 is referred to as `a job shop in a box,'" said a company spokesperson. "It offers the power of multiple machines in one."
The MT100 was created to accommodate more complex parts. "Whereas parallel spindles present certain limitations, the MT100's opposing spindles allow it to be ultra-versatile," said the spokesperson. With all live tool stations, this machine is a suitable option for parts that require a variety of cutting tools throughout the turning process.
As a multitasking turning center, customers can request two or three turrets per machine. The basic model features a turret above the center line and a turret below. With this design, each turret can serve either spindle at any given time-a benefit that allows machine operators to utilize multiple tools in a single cut for reduced cycle times and greater productivity.
The MT100 comes equipped with a standard Y-axis on all turrets, giving Murata Machinery customers the advantage to machine complex parts. "Typically, this style of machine can only utilize a bar feeder, which, though effective, is very limiting in terms of part diameter," said the spokesperson. The MT100 is can utilize either a bar feeder or a gantry loader to load slugs, or both, to better accommodate parts of varying sizes.
The MT100 can be engineered to meet unique part specifications.
