The Tooling Tech Group (TTG) will be displaying its Segen Quick Change system at the Assembly Show. These holding devices can replace traditional nuts, bolts, fasteners and hand tools, helping to reduce the time invested in set-ups, changeovers, workholding, clamping, fixturing and alignment.
The Segen quick change devices, which consist of a steel cylinder lock and corresponding knob, are easy to use. With a quick burst of air pressure, the cylinders unlock to receive and locate their mating steel retention knobs. Removing air pressure from the cylinder allows the internal piston cam to mechanically position five hardened steel balls around the knob, locking it into place until air pressure is applied again to release it. The precision surfaces of the cylinder locks and mating knobs offer repeatability of .0002", with thousands of pounds of fail-safe mechanical holding strength, even if pneumatic pressure is lost.
The Tooling Tech Group's Segen quick change systems are suitable for a variety of applications in plastics, robotics, appliances, medical equipment, automation, windows, aerospace, welding, automotive, tool making, electronics, metals and other markets. These devices are designed to reduce downtime, improve quality, eliminate waste, enhance efficiency and increase overall profitability.
