GAMA 3.0 Now VDI/VDE 2610 Gear Data Exchange Compliant
March 1, 2016
Gleason Metrology Systems Corporation's latest suite of GAMA gear analysis software is now VDI / VDE 2610, Gear Data Exchange (GDE) compliant. This comes as a natural progression, given the capability of the software to read and build part programs from the data contained in XML files or QR codes.
Users who have inspection parameters, part programs or data from the design department stored on particular measuring or process machines can now use that data in another inspection or process machine, provided the target machine's software has a similar compliance function. These features reduce the need to manually enter pages of gear parameters such as pressure angle, number of teeth, helix angles, etc. The ability to use known data in a neutral format opens the communications channel between different machine manufacturers, enabling users to maximize their investment in gear production and inspection technology.
One-time programming of part parameters simplifies the process of integrating new machines into manufacturing networks regardless of the type of controllers or languages used. "The reduction in programming and data entry steps also offers a powerful mistake-proofing tool that helps avoid costly data transposition errors," said a company spokesperson.
