Matthew Crownover
Matthew Crownover has been named President of Identification Plates, Inc. He is the third generation of his family to lead the Texas based manufacturing company.
Founded in 1959, Identification Plates has been providing metals, fabrication and imprinting processes to a variety of industries including awards and personalization, promotional products, manufacturing and the military.
Crownover grew up learning the manufacturing business from his parents Doug and Karen Crownover. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College and a bilingual Masters of Divinity degree from Southern Methodist University and has volunteered, studied and worked in over 20 countries. During his 14-year career as a medical chaplain in Dallas area hospitals, he received multiple certifications in the fields of oncology, psychiatry, emergency room and neonatology.
While Crownover grew in his profession, the time came for him and his parents to discuss the future of the family-owned company. "I came to appreciate the business as a force capable of doing great things for our community," said Crownover. "I joined my parents in exploring what the future would hold for the company they spent their lives building."
Crownover officially joined Identification Plates in September of 2013 to re-integrate into the organization. In August 2015 he graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses program.
"He successfully showcases his people skills and problem solving ingenuity in any role he plays," said Doug Crownover, Identification Plates Owner. "But what impresses me most is his ability to fast-track into an innovative and proactive business executive. I am going to sleep well at night knowing Matthew is setting the direction for the future of our company."
Crownover has big plans for the next generation of Identification Plates. "I know our future is bright," he said. "We have smart people, a capacity for growth and a tenacious will to do the work. Our core values will remain the key driver in everything we do. The purpose of our business is simple - to bless the lives of others - our customers, vendors and employees."
An example of Matthew's dedication to the company's purpose came at the Dallas Marathon on Sunday December 13th. As the winner of Columbia Business School's Executive Challenge, his 26.2 mile run resulted in a $10,000 donation for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children on behalf of Identification Plates. "I volunteered at the Scottish Rite hospital as a kid," he said. "I have seen first hand the dedication of its staff. It was a honor to run through some pain for a few hours to provide this tremendous gift to the hospital."
