Hartwig recently hosted a Technology and Education Event that was held at the Davis Applied Technology College (DATC), located at 550 East 300 South, Kaysville, UT 84037. Attendees had the opportunity to explore various ways today's technologies could add efficiencies to their manufacturing processes.
The event showcased technology from Okuma and Tsugami machine tools, inspection equipment from Hexagon Metrology and Hartwig's Engineering Solutions for turnkey systems and manufacturing cell design. A variety of live cutting and inspection demonstrations were on display for attendees to experience and learn how they could optimize their day-to-day machining processes.
"Technology is key to manufacturing optimization and profitability," said Brian Toomey, Division President for Hartwig Inc. "There are new ways of looking at tooling, improving the programming process or tracking production. We demonstrated to shops how technologies are being used in the industry and how they can be applied to their current process to increase throughput. If a company could not attend and would like more information, we encourage them to contact us for a firsthand cutting demonstration."
Technology Learning Labs during the event featured: Robotic Automation of Machine Tools; Dispelling the Myths; CAD/CAM for Multi-Axis & Swiss Lathes; Okuma THINC Control Features & Apps; The Productive Process Pyramid - Transforming Manufacturing via Process Controls; Increase Productivity in CAM Programing via Adveon Tooling Library; and Optimizing Machining Productivity with Real Time Tool Monitoring and Adaptive Control. Day two of the event included training classes on: MasterCam's Dynamic Motion; Probing and Touch Setting; and Okuma P300 Controller - Discover the Possibilities for Productivity.
Representatives from Hartwig as well as machine builders were on hand to field questions regarding the equipment and how it applies to today's manufacturing needs. Representatives from major tooling, workholding, cooling and CAD/CAM manufacturers who showcased their technologies included Abbott Workholding, ATS Systems, Bucci Industries, Caron Engineering, ChipBLASTER, Daystrom Technologies, Inc., Gosiger Automation, ISCAR, Kennametal, Koma Precision, QualiChem, Inc., Remote Machine / MasterCam, Renishaw, Sandvik Coromant and Velocity Products.
