Portable Coolant Filtration Systems
August 1, 2015
Keller Products has produced four distinct portable models designed to remove both floating metal fines and tramp oil simultaneously while returning the cleaned coolant to the machine sump. According to the company, the advantage of a portable unit in a shop is that the cost of the separator system is spread over multiple machines, making it an affordable option for many shops. Keller offers four different models to closely match customers' technical requirements with a specific unit.
The Model #315 has a 10 gallon separator tank utilizing the Keller patented oil separator elements and a #4 size bag filter to remove floating solids drawn in through the inlet device. "The Model #315 increases coolant life in the sump, greatly reduces coolant purchase and disposal costs and increases tool life and part finishes. Because the flow rate through the separator is up to 3 gallons per minute, the Model #315 can clean a typical machine sump in just a few hours and then can be easily moved and set up at another sump. The machine tool can continue to operate while the Model #315 is operating," said a company spokesperson.
All four Keller portable units operate similarly. According to the company, a self-priming air operated pump pulls oily coolant from the surface of the sump through a floating inlet device, filters out the floating solids in the bag filter, removes the tramp oil in the separator tank using the Keller patented permanent oil separator elements and continuously returns the cleaned coolant to the sump.
