Quick-Change Graphite Electrodes

Ohio Carbon Blank, a supplier of graphite for the EDM industry, now offers quick-change graphite electrodes for increased productivity. "These custom size electrodes are mount-ready in a variety of standard, Erowa, System 3R and Hirschmann patterns so operators can spend more time machining and burning, and less time prepping," said a company spokesperson.

Each graphite electrode is pre-drilled with holes or slot machined to match a variety of standard chuck patterns for quick and easy mounting. "EDM is often the bottleneck to reducing mold delivery times within mold, tool and die shops. By incorporating standard outsourcing streams including pre-machined quick-change electrodes, mold shops can maximize efficiency and minimize the waste of operations that are otherwise typically performed in-house," said the spokesperson.

"Studies suggest that full automation machining with quick-change tooling can increase the annual productivity of EDM operations by 95%," continued the spokesperson. "Although many mold builders may not require full automation, or does not have the budget to support it, significant time saving benefits can be achieved from utilizing quick-change electrodes alone."

Ohio Carbon Blank quick-change electrodes are available for both round and rectangular graphite blanks in Erowa 50 mm, Erowa slotted, System 3R 54 mm, System 3R slotted, Hirschmann 50 mm and Hirschmann slotted patterns.
