Ribbon Cutting Ceremony December 9 for Vincennes University Gene Haas Training/Education Center and HFO Midwest Technical Center

A ribbon cutting ceremony for Vincennes University's all-new Gene Haas Training and Education Center in Lebanon, IN, will take place Wednesday, December 9 at 2 PM. Scheduled to participate are Mike Pence, Governor of Indiana, and Harold "Huck" Lewis, Mayor of Lebanon, IN. Also in attendance will be several senior representatives of the Gene Haas Foundation, Vincennes University and Haas Factory Outlet Midwest.

As reported in July of 2014, the Gene Haas Foundation provided a $1.5 million dollar grant to the City of Lebanon to help fund the construction of the education facility. According to David Tucker, Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Services, "One of the first classes to be held at the Gene Haas Training and Education Center will be for its popular CNC Machinist NOW program. CNC Machinist NOW is a 15-week, 600 hour training program designed primarily for veterans."

Students enrolled at the new Training and Education Center will receive hands-on experience through the operation of over a dozen Haas CNC machine tools, including: five Haas VF-2 vertical machining centers (VMCs), five ST-10 horizontal turning centers (HMCs) and TL-1 CNC lathes. Co-located in the same building will be an all-new Technical Center for Haas Factory Outlet, a Division of Midwest Manufacturing Resources, which has also entrusted the city with a Haas ST-20Y multitasking turning center and Haas VF-3 VMC.

"The Gene Foundation was created in 1999 by Gene Haas, Founder and President of Haas Automation, Inc. and reflects Gene's commitment to the manufacturing industry in the USA and manufacturing education," stated Kathy Looman, Foundation Administrator. "This year alone the Gene Haas Foundation is granting over $9 million to manufacturing education in the form of scholarships, inspiring young people to explore manufacturing as a career and program support."

Haas Automation, Inc. is a manufacturer of CNC machine tools. All Haas products are manufactured at the company's one million sq. ft. facility in southern California, and distributed through a worldwide network of more than 170 Haas Factory Outlets (HFOs).
