The Skinny-Vise

Phillips Precision, Inc. has introduced the Skinny-Vise, a tool for holding small, thin, and irregular parts with speed and efficiency.

"Whether you are working with vision systems or CMM probes, this vise exposes more of the part, reducing interference and allowing for nearly 100% surface access," said a company spokesperson.

Key features of the Skinny-Vise:

  • Nonintrusive clamping: Hold parts securely while keeping the clamp out of sight
  • Two versions available:
    • Hand-tightened with a simple thumb screw for easy adjustment
    • Spring-loaded for consistent, repeatable pressure across shifts. Includes three replaceable compression springs (10, 15, and 25 lbs.) to suit various needs.
  • Adjustable static jaw: Offers up to 1.5" of adjustability for fast part swaps and repeat inspections
  • Customizable jaws: Machinable aluminum jaws designed to accommodate various part shapes, from small pins to spheres
  • Versatile mounting: The base can be mounted in any direction to enhance inspection set-up.

For even more versatility, the Skinny-Vise can also be mounted onto a cross-member, providing additional flexibility in positioning and maximizing inspection set-up options (available separately).
