Manford SBL/SBH CNC Lathe Series
March 1, 2026
Manford Machinery Co. has introduced its SBL/SBH series of CNC lathes. The SBL models are designed for high-speed turning, while the SBH models feature box guideways and are built for heavy-duty cutting. Both series feature a one-piece, 30° slant bed made from Meehanite cast iron, are annealed and stress-relieved and include a range of accessories and capabilities.
The SBL series, which includes the SBL-5, SBL-6 and SBL-8 models, uses linear guideways on the X- and Z-axis with a rapid traverse rate of 30 m/min.
SBL-M models include a power turret and C-axis, enabling milling, drilling and tapping in one set-up. The C-axis has a high-resolution encoder and hydraulic brake. Turret options include a hydraulic turret with bi-directional and random tool selection for fast tool change, a servo turret that can index in about one second and a power turret offering live tooling with low-noise rotation.
The SBH series, including SBH-6 and SBH-8 models, features box guideways coated with Turcite-B and grooved with lubrication oil channels for rigidity during heavy-duty cutting. Every contacting surface is precision hand scraped.
The SBH-M models combine turning and milling operations and offer a VDI40 power turret with a 5.5-kW drive. Optional solutions include auto loader, oil mist collector, VDI/BMT toolholders, bar feeder and hydraulic steady rest, among others.
