A mold die with three electrodes showing where the machining will take place. Each electrode is attached to an Erowa toolholder, which makes it easier to swap out electrodes in an automated EDM environment.
Ohio Carbon Blank offers a variety of electrodes.
Ohio Carbon Blank recently upgraded its machining capability with a new Mazak QT 350 CNC lathe.
Ohio Carbon Blank is a supplier of graphite materials and various consumables for the EDM industry. EDM is a popular machining technique used when dealing with exotic materials that are often too difficult to machine using conventional methods.
When it comes to graphite materials, Ohio Carbon Blank offers a large number to choose from, including materials suited for roughing applications, materials designed for finishing applications and some suitable for both.
Ohio Carbon Blank also offers a selection of copper impregnated materials, which is used when machining tough materials or when really intricate details are involved.
Ohio Carbon Blank also offers a variety of other consumables for sinker EDM applications, including brass and copper tubes for small hole drilling; graphite tapping electrodes for machining or repairing threads; and an array of metallic electrode materials.
Besides raw materials and starter blanks, Ohio Carbon Blank provides high-speed, precision machining services.
"We can machine just about any graphite electrode and in most cases have it quoted and shipped within 10-14 business days," said a company spokesperson. "Simply send us your CAD file, a print or solid model for a quotation."
Most products can be easily ordered using the company's patented online ordering system called The Graphimator. Customers can easily quote or order custom sized graphite blanks (rounds, squares and hexagonals), brass and copper tubes, tapping electrodes and quick-change electrodes, which include common slots and hole patterns to match customer toolholders
Ohio Carbon Blank recently upgraded its machining capability with a new CNC milling machine, one large enough to handle larger jobs, and a new Mazak QT 350 CNC lathe. These new machines will help Ohio Carbon Blank reduce lead times and provide more freedom when it comes to production planning and scheduling.
"For more than 40 years, we have been known for our graphite blanks, precision ground to tolerances as tight as ± .0002 in., but now we pride ourselves in making the finished electrodes too," said the spokesperson. "No shape or geometry is too complex for the graphite machining experts. Call us for a quotation today."
