Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is highlighting programs that are less than 12 months long. These programs are available to adults of all ages and stages of life or career and who are interested in learning a skilled trade. Prospective students can schedule virtual or in-person campus tours and discussions about financial aid, scholarships, grants and housing assistance.
UTI operates 16 campuses in nine states under brands including UTI, MIAT College of Technology (Canton, MI, and Houston, TX), Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (Orlando, FL, and Phoenix, AZ), Marine Mechanical Institute (Orlando, FL) and NASCAR Technical Institute (Mooresville, NC).
UTI has a variety of programs that can be completed in 12 months or less.
Seven-month programs:
- Wind Technician
- Industrial Maintenance Technician
- Welding Technology.
Nine-month programs:
- Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining Technicians
- Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician
- Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) Technician.
Eleven-month program:
Wind Technician
Wind technicians service, maintain and inspect wind turbine towers. Students will learn about renewable energy sources, wind technology and components, wind turbine operations and rope and climbing safety training. Offered in:

Industrial Maintenance Technician
Industrial maintenance technicians perform maintenance and repairs on various types of machines. On any given day, they may perform diagnostics, clean and lubricate machinery or test damaged parts to determine if they need replacing. This program teaches students how to install, maintain and repair machinery in buildings, manufacturing and power plant settings. Offered in:
Welding Technology
Welding technicians gain hands-on experience with the same tools found in the field and work in labs with welding booths featuring current technology and equipment. Students also learn how to weld in the flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions used for plate or sheet metal, and the fixed, rolling and overhead positions used for pipe. Offered in:

CNC Machining Technicians
CNC machinists use advanced machinery and computer programs to create precision mechanical components. Students use manual and CNC machines to shape parts from metal, wood and plastic according to blueprints and other complex computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files. Advanced Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician
Nondestructive testing technicians are responsible for ensuring that products coming out of a factory meet the specifications set by the company. A majority of work being maintenance on existing equipment including: off-shore, refineries and more. They inspect products to ensure their structural and visual components are up to standard, which in turn helps increase customer satisfaction. Offered in:
Diesel Technician
The Diesel Technology program teaches students how to diagnose, maintain and repair heavy-duty machinery, commercial vehicles and industrial equipment. Skilled diesel technicians will learn to work with truck and bus companies, oil refineries, railroads, marine applications, agriculture and more. Offered in:
