TRS Welding & Fabricating Invests in New Waterjet

The Flow MACH 500's high-pressure pump technology, machine control, cutting heads and software help increase speed and accuracy.

TRS Welding & Fabrication, located in Gilbertsville, PA, has invested in a new MACH 500 Flow waterjet to increase its range of cutting and fabrication capabilities. The MACH 500 was purchased through Mid Atlantic Machinery.

TRS Welding had previously been using a waterjet in its business, but the new MACH 500 Flow waterjet will allow it to take on larger projects with a more diverse range of intricate part needs.

"Overall, we have been able to expand into new markets because we can cut at faster speeds, produce parts in fewer hours with greater accuracy and deliver a higher quality part at a better cost than previous methods," reported Tony Sheha, TRS Owner and President. "The MACH 500 has eliminated our need to outsource work while simultaneously allowing us to provide for companies seeking waterjet cutting services."

"In addition to cutting more parts, the 3D 5-axis cutting capacity from the Dynamic XD cutting head allows for TRS to cut angles at a perfect angle instead of simple circular flange cut," said a company spokesperson. "The Dynamic-XD cutting system tilts the cutting head to produce more accurate parts at higher cutting speeds. This means the waterjet tilts automatically as required instead of remaining fixed at a 90° angle to the plane of a flat plate. By using computer models to control a small 'wrist' cutting head, the new waterjet automatically adjusts cutting angles. A perfect part can be cut with no heat-affected zone or need for secondary grinding."

TRS Welding opened in 2004, and acquired Boyertown Fabrication in 2015 to become TRS Welding & Fabrication. What started as a local company servicing the southern area of Pennsylvania is now a 30 employee operation in a large 20,000 sq. ft. facility serving both regional and national customers.

TRS offers full fabricating capabilities with its waterjet, plate shears, plate and angle rolls, press brake, hydraulic presses, a Trumpf punch, large miter and band saws, multiple lathes, drill presses and vertical mills.

TRS also operates five fully equipped service welding trucks that travel within a 50-mile radius and bring mobile welding to customers for both repairing and creating.

"We create your designs in our fabrication shop, or we can even take our mobile welding trucks on the road. We can go anywhere to complete your metal project whether it is for residential, commercial or industrial purposes," said Sheha.

The company's mobile and shop services include, but are not limited to, welding, repairs, field installation and set-up, as well as machining of components and subassemblies in materials ranging from aluminum, copper, copper/bronze, stainless steel, carbon steel and more.
