MCC Receives Donation from Gene Haas Foundation
December 1, 2018
The Metropolitan Community College (MCC) Foundation is the recipient of a $10,000 donation from the Gene Haas Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Haas Automation, an international manufacturing company focused on CNC machine tools. The donation will go towards scholarships for the MCC Precision Machine Technology program, an area of the college that is seeing tremendous growth at the South Omaha Campus with the creation of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing due to open in 2019.
The donation marks the third consecutive year MCC has received a contribution from the Gene Haas Foundation, bringing the total to $34,000. In the previous two years, MCC used the funds to offer two $1,500 per quarter scholarships. MCC has also used funds from the Gene Haas Foundation to support the Omaha North High School Precision Machine program, a dual enrollment credit program that trains high school students for in-demand careers. To date, approximately 100 Omaha Public Schools students have received funding through the Gene Haas Foundation.
