VMC Lineup Upgraded

The Ganesh vertical machining center (VMC) lineup features nine VMC machine sizes with travels from 24" x 16" to 100" in X and 39" in Y, and 39.3" in the Z-axis. Two full 5-axis machines are also offered with 8" or 12" pallet for workpiece fixturing. The rigidity of the massive Meehanite processed cast iron frames provides a high-strength cutting platform with enhanced vibration dampening and efficient metal removal rates.

The standard 12,000 RPM direct-drive in-line #40 taper spindle features rigid tapping and a thermostatically controlled spindle-oil cooler. A #50-taper spindle and a 2-speed gearbox is optional for heavy-duty applications. The standard big-plus dual-contact precision ground Ganesh spindle provides increased rigidity, reduced tool runout, increased tool life and greater cutting capability, along with tool length repeatability. "The machine uses roller-bearing guideways to provide nearly twice the rigidity of ball bearing ways for enhanced cutting performance," said a company spokesperson. The Y-axis on the larger machines is supported by four heavy-duty roller-bearing ways for superior cutting capability with heavy table loads. A fast 4-second tool change and up to a 40-tool twin-arm chain-drive ATC is provided.

Standard features included are: 12,000 RPM; big-plus dual-spindle; 300-PSI through-the-tool coolant; auto power shut-off; and 4th and 5th axis prewire. A 1,000-PSI through-the-tool coolant system is among the available machine options. The standard Mitsubishi M830 control features include super smooth surface control to provide enhanced surface finish and reduce post-process part finishing. "The control processes 270,000 blocks-per-minute with 2000 block look-ahead by using a high-efficiency ultra-high-speed 64-bit fiber-optic backplane and an advanced RISC processer, designed by Mitsubishi exclusively for CNC machine tool use," said the spokesperson. Mid-program restart capability and 32 GB part program memory are also included as well as a separate 32 GB data server.
