Gauging Amplifier Solves Crank Shaft Pin Diameter Needs
September 1, 2017
Edmunds Gages has announced its Accu-Touch gauging amplifier. Its four-checks-in-one capability gives crankshaft makers an easy to read means of measuring "pin" journal diameter size and roundness on the shop floor, with the part in or out of the machine.
Used in conjunction with Edmunds air snap tooling line, these air gauging tools, or "snaps," providing an easy to use solution. Accessible to the diameter from the side, an air snap allows the user to rotate on the journal, giving a new dimension to the out-of-round usually captured in a laboratory environment.
The Accu-Touch is a 4-channel electronic or air-to-electronic gauging amplifier that is user programmable for nearly every measurement application. The four possible displays provide an easy to see result of up to four separate features, or in this case both the size (static) and roundness (by rotation) of the tool. At the press of a button, this data can be captured and stored on the unit's qualified memory stick for easy transposition to spreadsheets or a nearby PC.
A docking air unit allows for connection with Edmunds air plug, air ring and air snap tooling lines, as well as the company's differential transformers for electronic measurement. The results are viewed on easy to see dial displays with digital characters as well as limit indicators for upper or lower specification limit violations.
