Company Expands CMM Sales with New Distributor

Crotts & Saunders LLC is the exclusive distributor for AIMS Metrology's coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for the territories of West Virginia, Virginia and North and South Carolina. The AIMS CMM product line-up includes its laboratory-grade Revolution Series LM equipped with Renishaw's 5-axis REVO 2 scanning head, and the industry's only mobile 5-axis CMM on the market-the Revolution HB, designed and built with Renishaw's PH20 5-axis touch trigger system.

Crotts & Saunders, a Winston-Salem, NC-based machine tool sales and metrology products distributor, provides installation, contract inspection services, customer support and training. "We were looking for a CMM OEM that would complement our role as a value-added service and applications provider," said Vice President and General Manager Chris Miller. "Renishaw's open architecture for its MODUS software and 5-axis PH20 and REVO 2 measurement technology made AIMS and its CMM products an attractive choice for us."

Metrology has been Crotts & Saunders' life blood since the company launched in 1956. "Today's CMM sales are driven by software and customer service," said Miller. "With some companies, the smaller job shop can get pushed to the bottom when it comes to response times and then find itself charged for post-sales support. Our metrology customers, whether it is a five-man shop or a Tier 1 supplier, find us very responsive."

Crotts & Saunders' 25,000 sq. ft. facility features two training rooms and two laboratory environments equipped with metrology machines. Application and service technician roles are exclusive to both sides of the Crotts & Saunders house-machine tools and measurement equipment. Dedicated territory managers and metrology sales representatives ensure customers get what they need when they need it. In addition to facility or on-site training, the distributor provides an automated service hotline.
