Victor Technologies CEO Martin Quinn uses a Victor Thermal Dynamics plasma system to cut a copper ribbon, officially opening the company's new Design Center in West Lebanon, NH
Victor Technologies recently opened a Plasma Design Center in West Lebanon, NH.
Victor Technologies recently unveiled its West Lebanon Design Center, a facility dedicated to innovation in plasma cutting and arc welding technologies. The center encompasses 50,000 sq. ft. and employs approximately 75 people. The facility is equipped with a plasma process research and development laboratory, applications laboratory, classroom, demonstration facility with cutting tables for hands-on training of customers and employees, global technical support and service center and pilot production lines for new products.
"This state-of-the-art Plasma Design Center reflects Victor Technologies' commitment to continue to lead the advancement of plasma cutting technology," said Victor Technologies CEO Martin Quinn, speaking at the opening ceremony. "Our dedicated staff is focused on developing innovative solutions for our end user customers and providing technical support and training for our distributor partners."
Dr. James Browning founded Thermal Dynamics in 1957, originally locating the company in Lebanon, NH, and eventually moving to its current location at 82 Benning Street in West Lebanon in 1967. "The former Dartmouth professor developed the modern plasma cutting electrode and the dual-flow gas process," said a company spokesperson. "Although these innovations occurred more than 50 years ago, Dr. Browning's vision still forms the basis for the technologies used in today's automated plasma cutting systems.
"As for manual plasma cutting systems, Thermal Dynamics introduced the first air plasma cutter to use single-phase primary power in the early 1980s. Today, these products are used by fabrication shops, auto repair facilities, mechanical contractors, construction companies, artists and maintenance/repair specialists.
"While best known for plasma cutting innovations, the West Lebanon location also features numerous welding technology developments, going back to the 1980s. These include some of the first lightweight, portable TIG/stick inverters designed under the Thermal Arc brand and now recently re-branded Tweco."
