Automated Cells & Equipment held its 2013 Open House & Technology Expo October 16th and 17th at its Painted Post, NY, facility. This two-day event showcased robotic and automation technology.
Automated Cells, in partnership with FANUC Robotics North America, provided live demonstration cells featuring technologies such as: FANUC 3D robot vision, whereby a random product was located within a bin and robotically picked, oriented and placed in the proper location; robotic force sensing display using FANUC force sensing technology to apply a constant force on a material removal application; and FANUC iRVision was featured in multiple cells including ball bearing assembly, in which various size ball bearings were identified by vision and then picked and placed into the appropriate location.
Automated Cells featured its pre-engineered machine tending technology, the model MT10D and RoboCart. The model MT10D and its family of machine tending cells are drawer-based and designed to complement any machine tool. The MT10D was featured with a pneumatic-operated vertical auto-door providing quick machine entry/exit times. RoboCart was featured tending a FANUC RoboDrill.
Vendors such as Numatics, SMC, Schunk, Graco, ATI, Mecco Laser Marking and Optical Gaging Products were on display. A live machining demonstration with the ACE model WS8100 Mate workstocker based machine tender, a Haas mill and an OGP Snap vision based gage provided customers with not only a glimpse of the latest technology, but a handy bottle opener as well.
Each day included multiple informational seminars from industry experts on topics such as: What's new in machine tending, Advanced robot vision, FANUC Roboguide simulation, force control and more. Attendees learned of the latest technologies and how they could be applied in the shop.
