Mazak has introduced the new SYNCREX 20/9X Swiss-style machine that is especially suited for the high-volume production of small, precise parts. A 9-axis configured machine, the SYNCREX 20/9X handles bar stock up to 0.750" (20 mm) and provides full 5-axis contouring using its B-axis tool post.
Like all Mazak SYNCREX Series machines, the SYNCREX 20/9X incorporates the company's High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC) base technology. According to the company, the high-rigidity base provides greater vibration damping characteristics, less thermal growth, longer tool life, and greater part surface capabilities than cast iron.
The SYNCREX 20/9X allows shops to run full bar capacity with no special bar end preparation, and a removable guide bushing adapter enables operators to preset the guide bushing outside the machine. The machine's 5-HP (3.7 kW) main and second spindles run at a maximum speed of 10,000 RPM, and it rapidly traverses at rates up to 1,377 RPM (35,000 mm/min) in the X1, X2, Y1, Y2, Z1, and Z2 axes.
To reduce set-up time and increase productivity, intuitive and user-friendly screens enable operators to touch off tools quickly and easily and prepare the machine for automatic cycles. The SYNCREX 20/9X comes standard with 36 tools and a full catalog of modular tools, enabling shops to configure the machine to handle simple to complex parts in one setup.
The SYNCREX 20/9X includes the new MAZATROL SmoothSt5 control with full mechanical keyboard. The optional Mazak Swiss Setup Assist (MSSA) provides fast and easy job set-up capabilities, while the optional Mazak Dynamic Chip Control (MDCC) functionality increases chip-management performance.
