Jet Edge has released the BOSS-CUTTER, a new 3-axis waterjet system. "It cuts parts up to 6" thick from virtually any material," said a company spokesperson. "The BOSS-CUTTER is designed for cost-conscious shops with limited floor space."
The BOSS-CUTTER features a 59" x 59" (1,500 mm x 1,500 mm) work envelope and includes one abrasive-jet cutting head. Its motorized Z-axis has 6" (152 mm) of travel. The system is controlled with a Windows PC and uses a FlashCut Pro-Series Stepper Controller and FlashCut CNC software. It also includes IGEMS path generation software and a hand-held controller pendant for operator convenience.
According to the company, the BOSS-CUTTER comes standard with a Jet Edge Eco-Jet direct drive pump but can be upgraded to any of Jet Edge's 55,000 PSI hydraulic intensifier pumps. The system can be configured for both abrasive waterjet cutting and water-only cutting (abrasive is added when cutting hard materials such as metals; soft materials such as foam can typically be cut with water only).
