Large-Part Multi-Tasking

The Mazak INTEGREX i-500 advanced Multi-Tasking Machine, the largest machine in the INTEGREX i Series, efficiently processes medium to large complex parts. Featuring full 5-axis capability, the machine features a high-output, high-torque main spindle and a compact milling spindle that combine the capabilities of a high-powered turning center with those of a full-function machining center to produce parts in single set-ups.

The INTEGREX i-500's configuration works to minimize fixtures, set-ups, tools, handling and noncut time. Additionally, the machine reduces lead times and improves part accuracy through the elimination of multiple set-ups. With the machine's full 5-axis capability, shops can easily generate fully prismatic parts from solid blocks or castings (chucked or bar fed) as well as round and/or highly contoured parts.

The INTEGREX i-500 main turning spindle incorporates a 132 mm diameter bore, and the main and second turning spindles are 2,500 RPM, 37 kW/1,848 Nm. Available as options are 12", 15" or 18" chuck sizes. The main spindle enables full C-axis contouring with .0001° minimum indexing to enhance machining flexibility and reduce set-up time.

With the 40 taper, 12,000-RPM milling spindle, the INTEGREX i-500 delivers high metal removal rates for large, heavy parts. A roller cam drive for its B-axis that provides 240° of travel helps ensure high accuracy and rigidity with zero backlash. A Capto C6, 110-tool magazine keeps the spindle supplied with tools for longer uninterrupted operation.

The design of the INTEGREX i-500 allows for a 16.9" Y-axis stroke with a 4.95" X-axis travel below centerline.

With multiple available bed lengths, the INTEGREX i-500 meets various application requirements with a maximum machining diameter of 27.56" (700 mm). The range of bed lengths accommodates part lengths as long as 61.97" (1,574 mm), 102.130" (2,594 mm) and 121.340" (3,082 mm).

The INTEGREX i-500 is equipped with Mazak's MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC. For fully optimized machining operations, the AI-powered technologies within the MAZATROL SmoothAi control make for fast and easy programming, controlled spindle speed for reduced vibration and greater machine thermal stability. These Mazak technologies include Solid MAZATROL, which allows users to automatically generate programs from 3D part models; SMOOTH Ai Spindle, which automatically optimizes spindle speed based on sensor feedback to minimize machining vibration for enhanced part surface finishes; and Ai Thermal Shield, which adapts to and learns from environmental changes to control the effects of heat on machining accuracy.

The control also provides access to Mazak's MAZATROL TWINS software, which allows shops to create on a PC synchronized digital twins of real machines on their shop floors. The digital twin software solutions provide efficient machine operation through SMOOTH Project Manager that helps ensure efficient job set-ups and SMOOTH CAM Ai for an open and interactive interface for CAD/CAM software packages.
