Allendale Machinery Systems celebrated manufacturing month by hosting its annual Haas Demo Day event on October 25 and Education Day on October 26, 2022. The open house showcased Haas machines in action and also promoted Haas Automation's HTEC program. The two-day event brought in over 200 educators, students and prospective buyers.
"Demo Day, a Haas event that showcases the latest machining solutions in manufacturing, continues to bring knowledge, skill and solutions to the manufacturing field. Each year Allendale Machinery hosts an open house to provide live demos, educational solutions and expertise knowledge to help current and prospective customers navigate what machine would be best for their shop or facility," said a spokesperson.
The event featured live demos on Haas models that included the UMC-1500SS-DUO, ST-28Y, UMC 500SS and the VF-2SS. Demo Day was held at Allendale's Long Island facility at 1545 Ocean Ave., Bohemia, NY 11716.
For Education Day, guest speakers spoke about the importance of manufacturing. Kathy Looman, Director of the Gene Haas Foundation, shared insight into the HTEC program, which is intended for schools, students and educators. The program awards scholarships each year.
Aaron Hopmayer, Principal at Pine Bush High School, along with Kenneth Marshall, District STEAM Coordinator at Pine Bush, spoke on how the HTEC program has helped their school create a program that gears their students towards careers in automation and manufacturing. John Lombardo, Associate VP of Workforce and Economic Development at Suffolk County Community College, also spoke on how the HTEC program has helped students and staff at the college. Ron Loveland, President at Summit Safety Solution, spoke on key points and solutions for helping manufacturers thrive in today's markets. Robert Kufner, President and CEO at SDP/SI Designtronics, Inc., spoke on how the HTEC program has helped him recruit prospective employees to his facility.
Guest speakers brought insight, knowledge and solutions in combating the labor shortage in the manufacturing field by highlighting the importance of establishing manufacturing and automation programs in schools and to bring more interest into the HTEC program, which offers scholarships, training and solutions to prospective students and schools.
"Our two-day event brought many together to show the importance of growing the machining and manufacturing community in today's markets as well as the knowledge and capabilities of what Haas machines can do for current and prospective buyers," said the spokesperson.
