Toner Machining Technologies (TMT) has announced the acquisition of the assets of Emery Corporation. In addition to expanding Emery's current machining capacity, Emery's existing customers will benefit from the addition of the TMT team's expanded capabilities, including additional quality labs and certifications, expanded 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling and turning capabilities, welding, grinding, sheet metal and much more.
"We feel that the combined technical expertise of the TMT and Emery teams will create a manufacturing powerhouse that is unparalleled in the region," said a spokesperson.
TMT was founded in 2001 by Jim Toner, who started his career with the Emery family in the late 1970s. From Detroit to Florida, the Toners have been in the machining industry for over three generations. The journey started in Florida at Control Machining where Jim's father worked, and Jim began his career in high school. Several years later, Leo Emery, the founder of Control Machining, opened a new machine shop, Emery Corporation, in Morganton, NC. Leo asked Jim to move to North Carolina in 1978 to help with his new company.
Jim went on to found Toner Machining Technologies in October of 2001 in the aftermath of 9/11. "Together with his son Trent, the Toner's have built one of the strongest reputations in the industry. Now, over 20 years later, with the acquisition of Emery Corporation, TMT has come full circle," said the spokesperson.
