Preview of Smaller Series APX Drill

Allied will share a preview of the newest addition to the APX drilling line at IMTS.

Allied Machine & Engineering will be adding a new 33 mm series to its line of APX drilling products later this year. "The smaller APX will round out its current selection and will offer double the productivity rates of competitive products," said a company spokesperson. Specifically designed to allow higher spindle speeds and take advantage of the power curve on modern CNC machines, the APX provides maximum penetration rates on deep hole drilling applications. It is suitable for heavy equipment valve manufacturing applications and for use in the oil and gas, wind and other renewable energy markets.

The APX drill provides enhanced results in previously unmanageable deep hole and large diameter applications on low horsepower machines. APX drill inserts are offered in sizes ranging from the soon-to-launch 33 mm to 101.6 mm (1.299" to 4"). The tool uses a fixed series body with various heads to determine the cutting diameter. There are 11 series to cover the diameter range, available in lengths of 3, 5, 8 and 10xD. A unique "X" locator on the head to body connection allows for simple assembly and increased strength. The locking screws position the head for a secure connection with minimal runout.

The 33 mm series will be available for preview at IMTS in Allied's booth #431436 in the West Hall.
