TurnCheck Measurement System for Fast Shaft Measurement

Quality Vision International (QVI) offers new TurnCheck high-speed shaft measurement systems.

TurnCheck fully automatic optical measurement systems are designed to provide fast, accurate measurement of shafts and cylindrical parts. The TurnCheck family includes the benchtop Series-6 that offers a 60 mm field of view, measuring shafts 60 mm diameter x 300 mm long. Series-10 systems provide a 100 mm field of view, measuring shafts 100 mm diameter and up to 800 mm long.

"TurnCheck systems are rugged, reliable and easy-to-use, offering one-button turn-key measurement of cylindrical parts to high precision, even on the shop floor," said a company spokesperson. Integral thermal compensation minimizes adverse effects of temperature variation on measurement accuracy. TurnCheck systems are suitable for the aerospace, automotive, medical device and energy sectors. Typical parts that TurnCheck excels at measuring include CV joints; electrical engine shafts; drive and gear shafts; engine valves; pin hubs; screws and bolts; dental and orthopedic implants; and fittings.

TurnCheck optics produce distortion-free images over the full field of view, providing telecentric images and preventing stray light that could influence measurements from entering the optical field. Constant-wavelength LED illumination optics are carefully matched to imaging optics to supply collimated light for optimal part backlighting, optimizing the measurement process.

TurnCheck's advanced image analysis and automatic feature extraction finds and measures all part features in a single scan. With 100 mm/sec vertical scans, TurnCheck offers fast, precise measurement without programming, with or without a CAD model. TurnCheck provides integral GD&T and best-fitting, and outputs point data for external analysis or reverse engineering.
