Wide Range of Automation Solutions

Methods Machine Tools, Inc. provides a variety of multitasking, CNC machining and cells integrated with robots that offer numerous automation solutions for manufacturers.

Examples of Methods automation solutions include:

  • A Nakamura-Tome AS200 lathe cell with the automation guarding around the cell removed and set up with collaborative guarding using laser scanners to detect when a person approaches the machine. When a person begins to approach the machine, the lights around the machine turn from green to yellow and the FANUC robot slows down. If the person gets closer, the lights turn red and the robot stops moving.
  • A FANUC RoboDrill JobShop Cell with Methods/FANUC JobShop 2Dvision. The JobShop vision is optimized for quick set-up between geometrically-shaped parts. Operators can use FANUC's IR Robot Guided Vision to photograph any geometric part they chose from a bin, which enables the FANUC robot to find that part using 2Dvision.
  • A fine-tuned deburring cell designed from three stand-alone FANUC robots. Two of the robots work on the deburring while the third robot washes the part (part process machining).
  • 3-D vision bin picking using a FANUC robot that picks parts from a much smaller size bin (12" x 14" x 5"). The smaller bin is ideal for smaller parts and reduces the size of the cell, as opposed to the larger 4' x 4' bins traditionally used in the automotive industry.
  • A high speed RoboDrill Twin Cell that features one robot loading two machines with no auto doors to slow down the cycle. This FANUC robot is a special "Wash Down" version designed to work in wet environments and is unpainted, making it discernible from other FANUC robots. Without the doors, part exchanges are reduced from 8-10 seconds down to two seconds and a 60 second cycle time including tool changeover.
