Nidec Machine Tool Corporation offers the ABLASER laser micromachining system. It features a short pulse duration green laser, enabling machining with minimal thermal effects, and advanced precision positioning technology.
The optical laser head enables high precision helical machining. The laser head adopts a prism rotator that adjusts and rotates the laser beam to an arbitrary hole diameter, enabling shape processing with sharp edges. It is also possible to drill holes of any cross-sectional shape, such as straight, tapered, reverse tapered or hand-drum-shaped.
"Particularly in boring applications, ABLASER achieves dimensional accuracy exceeding that of EDM," said a company spokesperson. "Additionally, it supports the machining needs for forward/reverse tapered holes and 3D pockets, as well as for irregular shapes and curved surfaces with a 5-axis control technique."
