Integrated, Automated Bending Solution

Amada's HG 1003 ARs is a fully-integrated robotic bending system with a 6-axis robot, automatic gripper changer (AGC) and automatic tool changer (ATC) with patented Amada tooling. Each stage of the bending process, including tool loading, gripper exchange and robotic bending, is performed at fast speeds to maintain high levels of unmanned machine productivity.

By integrating a bending robot with the precision of Amada's HG Series press brake and patented ATC, fabricators can automatically bend a variety of parts with accuracy. The HG 1003 ARs supports workpieces up to 39.3" x 31.4" and has a weight capacity of 44 lbs.

Amada's ATC ensures tools are loaded quickly and precisely. Four tool manipulators load tooling from 15 punch stockers and 18 die stockers. Each stocker can hold 31.5" in tooling, which brings the ATC's tool capacity to over 86'. Rotating stockers can install punches in reverse orientation, thereby enhancing the robot's part forming capabilities. The ATC was engineered to integrate exclusively with Amada press brakes and allows fabricators to eliminate costly delays associated with manual tool changes.

A 6-axis robot with a wide range of motion capabilities performs all part loading, bending and unloading operations. An optional integrated Loading Camera System compensates for any misalignment during workpiece stacking and ensures that parts are picked up precisely by the robot. During bending, a potentiometer back gauge system with additional side gauge also compensates for any deviation when the workpiece is placed on the die. These compensating machine characteristics help ensure that parts are produced consistently and with accuracy.

The AMNC 3i control is equipped with a high-powered processor and expanded memory. Control features include:

  • Intuitive graphical interface minimizes the learning curve for new operators
  • Bend sequences and robot movements can be programmed completely offline
  • Tool Library Manager provides tool inventory control
  • Amada's SDD software database provides program storage on the control or on a server when the control is networked, allowing secure storage of machine set-up and program data
  • Built-in barcode reader scans set-up sheets and quickly retrieves all relevant part data from a server.
